Amphenol SATA/SAS connector SI measurement report for PCIe performance

Hello,

Here attached Amphenol SI test report shared in the last meeting. I corrected some typos including a part number that confirms that SAS connectors used in the test are SAS3 (12G) parts. I added a summary sheet for easy reading. Please feel free to shoot me any question you may have. Thanks.

Hi all,
We have added some details, specifically around the proposed signaling, pinouts, and power limits into the 0.2 draft. This draft is attached. We want to review the pinout and signaling at tomorrow's meeting.

Re: Confirmation: NVMe HDD Meeting Agenda for 8/19/2021 (tomorrow)

Mohamad Elbatal

Hi All,

After some internal discussions, Seagate decided to wait for Jason Adrian to come back before we continue the review of the proposed NVMe-HDD connector signals.
In the meantime, please comment on the existing OCP requirements doc.

Best,
Mohamad

Sorry folks: Cancelling today's NVMe HDD meeting

Dave Landsman

Hi all,

So, we had some unexpected and unavoidable conflicts come up suddenly and the Seagate team won’t have critical mass for the call today (neither Mohamad nor Tim).  Jason is, as we knew, out.  So even if we had a discussion about the pin-out, which was our main discussion item today, we’d end up reprising it.

Thus, we will cancel today’s call and reconvene at our next scheduled NVMe HDD call on Aug-19.  One possibility, also, is that if we don’t have other agenda items for our monthly call next week (12th), we might be able to do the NVMe HDD discussion as the main topic there.  I need to synch w/ my co-chairs.  Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, today’s call is cancelled.  Dave

Hi Charles,
Nothing required to join, just look at the wiki here:  https://www.opencompute.org/wiki/Storage

You can sign up for the various mailing lists, see the meeting calendars, etc. We have several work streams one of which is the HDD acoustics one.

Hi Matt, Jason, and Dave,

Chris Peterson (cc’d) suggested I reach out to you on participating in these meetings. Chris is a member of the Ecma TC26 technical committee, which I used to chair and now serve as secretary.

My more than 3 decades of acoustics include MIT grad school, US Navy submarines, and design for quietness and sound quality at HP. As Ecma TC26 Secretary, I facilitate and advocate for development of IT equipment noise and sound quality measurement standards.

I expect I will add value to the OCP Storage group, for example in vibro-acoustic design/qualification.

What needs to happen for me to participate in the meetings?

Hi all,
Tomorrow we'd like to tackle a few of the open items from the survey. Mohamad is proposing we start with topics #3 & #4 in the attached document. If we make it through those, we can move to 1/2/5, or leave those for the next occurrence.

Regards,
Jason
